Along with the fake rock or the obvious under the doormat, there are lots of ways to hide your spare keys. Some are more common than others and some are also easier to spot than others. When finding a way to hide spare keys make sure it is inconspicuous enough so you don’t have to worry about thieves or trespassing, but not so well hidden that you have to spend hours searching for it.

A little less obvious than the common fake rock, which usually doesn’t match your rock garden and stands out like a sore thumb, is the sprinkler key hider. This innovative device is made of plastic and looks just like an in-ground sprinkler head. When shoved into the ground it may be easy to spot but to a stranger who doesn’t know any better will just assume you have an underground sprinkler system. And if you do have a sprinkler system, then the sprinkler key hider might be an excellent choice for hiding your spare keys. This key hiding device is watertight and large enough to hold more than one key.

Another outdoor device that is easier to hide than a fake rock but probably easier to spot than a sprinkler key hider is a garden ornament. Coming in many shapes, sizes and designs some garden ornaments now come with secret compartments that will help hide your keys. The frog key hider has a fat belly and a door on its bottom that slides open to easily place your keys inside. When placed in a rock or flower garden any passerby will guess it is just a fun way to spice up your yard.

If you’re looking for other alternatives to solve the problem of forgetting keys or not being able to get in your front door, rather than hiding a spare key you might want to consider a Fingerprint Lock. Slightly more high-tech than a lawn ornament or a sprinkler key hider, a fingerprint lock doesn’t even require a key. Easily installed into most locks without having to drill new holes in the door this innovative door opener features an optical sensor that will recognize your unique finger print.

When you’re ready to get inside all you have to do is slide the protective cover and pres your finger on the programmed pad. Or if you need to let someone in whose fingerprint hasn’t been programmed you can put in a numerical pass code instead. Since the fingerprint lock can be set up to recognize up to 150 fingerprints every member of your family can be given access to opening the door without having to remember a key.

From a cheap and simple lawn decoration to a more costly but more secure fingerprint lock you won’t have to worry about being locked out of your house if you keep your keys or code in one of these innovative key hiding devices.
